Texture is a must on this season’s fashion agenda and it is one style that is set to stay popular right through the autumn and winter months, so why not invest in it now?

If you see something you like that you know is going to stay in style over the winter months, then buying it now will in fact allow you to wear it more!

Waiting until a later date could only mean that you may lose the item to another budding stylish fashionista!

Texture is certainly big this season and can be both dressed up and dressed down!  Think of adding a manish edge to an otherwise girly attire in the shape of a ruffled dress with a shrunken blazer.  Such an extra will toughen up the look and in turn stop it from looking too girly and feminine!

Team with a pair of chunky heels in the shape of ankle length booties.

Berry hues are also a great option this season and really work to make a look pop with a series of warmer tones.  These such hues also tend to go with everything so anything offering this will turn into your most versatile piece.

Add a scarf to a daytime look and heels and a shawl for an evening attire.

Scarves and beanies are a great way to dress down an outfit and make it a little more grungy and retro!  Think Doc Martins, a retro band tee, a longer length maxi skirt and a beanie.  You will have the daytime grunge glamour nailed!

Top 5 biggest chains of high street clothes stores

When asked who our top five biggest chains of high street clothing were we came up with our list pretty fast. We simply thought about the places we frequent the most, that are the most popular and other things such as value for money and range of style.

First on our list, the clothing giant now taking the rest of the world by storm and even spotted on A-list celebrities is:

TOPSHOP – Our leading high street retailer is Topshop, they lead the way in affordable, gorgeous fashion that can be relied upon to be made well and look good. Our only criticism of Topshop is that the sizing can be quite small, but that is often the case for other similar chains. Topshop is funky fresh and always has the best collections in store and online.

H&M – We chose H&M for their sheer brilliance at providing clothing on a budget. H&M has some unbelievably cheap items that often mimic more expensive versions in higher end stores. They do have more expensive and better quality lines and they are just as good. H&M is a firm favourite of girls everywhere.

MISS SELFRIDGE – Much like Topshop, we believe Miss Selfridge to be one of the high street leaders. Their clothes are again beautifully made and always look stunning. There is always a huge range to choose from be it petites, tall or maternity and their going out wear is outstanding.

PRIMARK – The beloved budget store, Primark had to be feature on our list as it is such a lifesaver when it comes to needing a quick fix when funds are low. What we love about Primark is that they have begun to have some really lovely pricier items (although still cheaper than elsewhere) and we genuinely do like a lot of the clothing they sell.

ZARA – Our last but not least choice was Zara, we love this international brand because its casual wear and basics range are as luscious as their smart, European, sleek anc chic daywear. We adore the bright colours, the continental look and if it’s good enough for the Middletons, it’s good enough for us.

  • Highstreet must-buys

The highstreet is full of sale items at the moment, this is mainly in order to prepare for the new season styles!  However this doesn’t mean you should bypass the sale stock completely.  With a tweak here and there, there are an array of items you can purchase now, yet still wear in the winter months.

Take for example a cutesy summer dress, add a pair of opaques, killer boots and a swet jacket or scarf and you have the same dress suitable for the summer months.  You can even wear tees or longer length tops under dresses in order to create a layer effect that will in turn keep you nice and toasty at the same time!

If you want to add a little rock edge to your attire, wear the same dress with distressed boots and a biker!  This is a great way to turn that sweet little summer dress into a quirky outfit perfect for a wannabe rock chick!

Shorts can also be transformed into winter wear with the addition of tights and heavy knits.  Wear with cutesy beanie hats and scarves if it is really cool outside!  patterned tights and coloured tights are also a great way to keep the look colourful and a little less monotone.  Just because its winter this certainly by no means wear just black!

Buying summer styles in the sales is a great way to sale, especially when you invest in an array of versatile pieces for the new season.

How to Wear Casual for Work

In today’s world of work, many companies have established dress codes that are business casual. This is done in an effort to permit employees to be comfortable while working. At the same time, companies still need their employees to look professional in order to create a good appearance for customers, visitors and potential employees. As a result, a style known as business casual has become a standard dress code for many companies.

With the business casual dress code, one does not simply wear any kind of casual clothing. In order to determine if a particular garment qualifies as business casual there are some criteria to consider. If the casual garment can worn at recreational places such as the beach, gym, dance clubs and other similar places, then it would not be consider to be an appropriate casual item for the office. Also, if the garment is too revealing of certain body parts such as back, cleavage, chest, stomach or underwear, it is not appropriate.

Dresses and skirts that are made in casual styles work well for the office. When choosing casual dresses and skirts to wear to the office, the length should also be considered. They should be at a length at which you can comfortably sit while in a public setting. Skirts that are too short or tight would not be considered appropriate for the office. Some types of casual clothing that would be too informal for an office setting include mini-skirts, sundresses, spaghetti strap dresses and skirts.

In regards to casual tops most shirts, dress shirts, sweaters, golf shirts and turtlenecks would be appropriate casual wear for work. These all must fit properly, of course, and not reveal any part of the body that shouldn’t be. Some casual tops that would not be appropriate business casual wear include tank tops, shirts with possibly offensive designs, halters, hoodies, t-shirts and off the shoulder tops.

Most kinds of slacks would be appropriate business casual wear. Dressy Capri pants can also look good for casual wear to work. Keep in mind that bottoms like shorts, jeans, sweatpants, leggings and spandex items should not be worn to work.

    Highstreet hot picks

Whats hot on the highstreet for now?  The answer is a lot!  So how on earth do we choose when we are on a budget?  Well the simple answer to this question is to invest in a few statement pieces that will update other items in your current wardrobe, which will in turn mean only splashing out on key essentials as appose to a whole brand new ensemble.

Haute Hippy style is back this year and comes in the form of over sized floppy hats, statement in your face Jackie O style glasses, peaceful pendants, Woodstock sandals and forever cool retro style flares.

The highstreet store New Look currently have some great brown floppy hats in store that are great for a holiday as they will keep the harmful rays away from both your locks and your face.  Not only will you look uber cool in style you will also have some stylish protection from the sun!

The key piece in this trend is a printed top, which can teamed with anyone of the outfits already owned in your wardrobe, just make sure they are not printed in style as well.  Too much will create a mixed up mess of a look rather than a subtle on trend style!

So how do you wear this look?  Either experiment with a leather look fringed satchel or go all out and invest in a fringed jacket, throw this over a billowing maxi for best results.
